As a CIO, you address many fundamental issues, but on a day-to-day basis, what are your struggles, your difficulties, your irritants?
The1st, as I imagine is the case for many other CIOs, is to demonstrate within the company that IT creates value before being a cost pool.
I’d like to highlight a2nd recurring theme: getting “principals” to understand thatsoftware is first and foremost a business solution, and not an IT solution. This is really the key to success when it comes to involving business Teams in the design of application solutions and in making them their own; you can’t do it without them…. and getting them to understand is not always easy.
And last but not least, I’d like to mention the growth of my team. It’s obvious that you don’t work the same way when you’re alone at the helm, then two, three or ten employees. So I need tooptimize internal processes and put in place the right tools to work methodically and efficiently.
My challenge now is to steer and supervise the business, and to retain control over the choice of priorities and budgetary decisions, without having to do everything myself.
Why Abraxio?
Before Abraxio, I managed my business like everyone else, using Excel. And therefore with frustrations:
- As far as the Budgets were concerned, after 3 years, I had finally worked out a way of operating that worked, although I wasn’t fully satisfied because I inevitably lost visibility of the budget once the invoice had gone to the accounts department.
- Until now, Projects were steered using Excel, with each team member iterating in a common spreadsheet, with no possibility of tracing any intervention by any of the team members.
When I discovered Abraxio through the recommendation of a member of my network, I saw a great opportunity: to do much better than before, with a more user-friendly pre-configured tool, and for a very limited investment.
So what do you do with the platform?
In concrete terms, since January 2021, I’ve been managing my entire budget : I use the platform every week to validate invoices and track commitments.
I have also integrated the tracking of my suppliers and contracts.
Since September 2021, my project managers and I have been using the Portfolio module to steer current projects as well as the projects on our IT roadmap.
If you had to remember 3 benefits of Abraxio?
First of all, it’s very responsive and easy to find information: everything is available at all times, so I don’t have to go looking for it or wait for someone to bring it to me.
Secondly, a more in-depth approach to data processing, with what I would describe as “3D” management. Abraxio gives me a 360° view of supplier data, and enables me to build up a real knowledge base and billing history.
And last but not least, Abraxio enables us to create a dynamic team spirit around the management of Projects, with a high degree of cross-functionality and collaboration.
A final word in conclusion?
There’s no reason not to try Abraxio! In concrete terms, for the same amount of time previously spent in Excel, the service provided by Abraxio is easily three times greater.
Obviously, you don’t work the same way when you’re alone at the helm as when you’re working with two, three or ten people. My challenge now is to steer and supervise the business without having to do everything on my own.
