Abraxio turns 5 in April 2024. On the occasion of this anniversary, CEO Samuel Revenu looks back at the key success factors behind Abraxio’s successful trajectory to date.
🚀1st key to success: define your course and stick to it, with Agility
VISION: We set out with a strong and clear vision: to empower CIOs by providing them with the tools—through a software platform—to easily manage their department’s day-to-day operations, steer it effectively, and, above all, ensure that its work is recognized for its true value.
AMBITION: We set out with an ambitious and clear goal: to win over and become the benchmark for all French CIOs (as afirst step), regardless of their company’s size or industry.
REALITY: We put our vision to the test very quickly by launching our platform less than 9 months after Abraxio was founded. This allowed us to prove our worth, see just how much Abraxio simplifies the day-to-day work of our CIO clients, and fully grasp the high expectations they have for our tool.
DIFFERENTIATION: To stand out from the crowd, we focused on our key differentiators: recognized industry expertise, a highly demanding customer experience, an innovative technology base, and strong SaaS vendor hallmarks: accessibility, speed, co-construction with customers…
COHERENCE: Gradually, we’re putting into practice everything we thought of when we created Abraxio. Every decision we take is in line with what we promised at the outset. This consistency is a great strength. It reassures all our stakeholders – Teams, customers, partners – that we are on the right track and pursuing our vision.
AGILITY: Our ability to be open and listen to our stakeholders, to iterate on their feedback, undoubtedly enabled Abraxio to “get it right”: the Roadmap was thus able to be adjusted and refined with agility, without ever losing sight of the initial objective.
🎯The initial foundation has not wavered and continues to tow Abraxio’s development. Five years on, Abraxio remains solidly on its feet.
🚀2nd key to success: Dare to take risks while remaining in control of your destiny.
Boldness and risk-taking, a chestnut in the entrepreneur’s career? It certainly is. Entrepreneurship means daring to take the plunge, and not procrastinating when you believe in the value of your product. In our case, we’ve always been careful to remain in control of our own destiny.
Since our creation in 2019, we have remained faithful to a profitable and controlled trajectory. We have self-financed each stage of our growth and closed our first five financial years with positive net income and cash flow, an unusual path for a startup.
The strong acceleration we’ve experienced in recent months has only confirmed our market value, and we’ve set our sights on 2024 with a view to giving ourselves the means to accelerate. To satisfy more customers and reach our target faster. To press even harder on product innovation, step up our R&D investments and expand our Teams, while remaining aligned with our initial ambition and in control of the tempo we want to set for our development.
To boost our growth, we therefore took a structuring decision in early 2024: to open up a small part of our capital to new investors.
🚀3rd key to success: staying true to your DNA and values
Raising capital has never been a taboo subject, as long as we were sure of keeping the reins. At the right moment, it gives us additional leverage to develop our product.
And we carried it out under ideal conditions: at a time when the market for startups is shrinking, we were lucky enough to be approached and to be able to choose our partners and the terms of our fundraising.
Quite naturally, our choice fell on the Evolem family office. In addition to being a player recognized for its benchmark investments in software publishing, we shared the same deep-rooted values: a commitment to long-term support with a view to sustainable growth, and a strong attachment to the economic viability and entrepreneurial development of companies.
Alongside Evolem, we are also backed by Crédit Agricole Création, a fund renowned for its support of innovative startups in their acceleration phase, whose choice made all the more sense given that several Crédit Agricole Group regional banks are already Abraxio customers.
I am delighted that these investors have provided us with the means to accelerate the implementation of our strategic plan. With them by our side, we are stronger than ever, without deviating from our ambition to base our development on healthy, profitable growth.
🚀4th key to success: knowing how to surround yourself with wise peers
The quality of the people around you is absolutely essential for entrepreneurship.
From the outset, I made sure to surround myself with seasoned entrepreneurs, ready to share their experience and sound advice. The contribution of Lyon’s startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem has been decisive in building this network, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have taken part in this wonderful adventure over the years: Lyon Start-Up, Réseau Entreprendre, HUB612, Grand Huit. Each of these schemes has enriched me with important encounters that have strengthened my own entrepreneurial journey.
This high-quality entourage took a new turn at the beginning of 2024 with the setting up of a strategic committee. The Projects had been in the pipeline since Abraxio’s inception, and I’m delighted to have been able to bring it to life through our capital opening.
With my partner Adrien Coussa, alongside Rémi Berthier (Evolem) and Jordan Rivieri (Crédit Agricole Création), we are fortunate to be able to count on the presence of two of the most successful managers in our sector, Jean-Paul Genoux and Franck Dunière. Both of them have followed the same creative path. Their input is invaluable in helping us question our trajectory and take the necessary distance to make the right decisions. We are proud to be able to count on their challenging vision to support the decisions of our Management Committee.
🚀5th key to success: capitalize on talent and corporate culture
The final factor, and probably the most important, is our talent. In fact, I’m convinced that talent will play an even more essential role in the future.
26 talents, and what talents! This is the wealth of Abraxio in April 2024, and undeniably one of the keys to our success. 26 when we were only 5 in 2022.
Growth is all the more meteoric as we plan to open some fifteen new positions in 2024…
If this collective is a force to be reckoned with, it’s because it’s been carefully constructed:
- We are recruiting experienced profiles – a conscious choice from the very first hires in 2021, to ensure we have the managers we need to absorb future growth.
- We are keen to unite our team: we hire all our “critical” Resources (product, customer success, sales, marketing…), in Lyon, on permanent contracts. Abraxio is designed and developed 100% in-house, locally, and it’s a deliberate choice that gives us a great deal of stability and Agility.
- Despite a tense job market and our relative youth, we attract these talents thanks to a credible and authentic employer promise: healthy and controlled development, a corporate culture with embodied values, attention to quality of life at work, regular opportunities to share strategy and successes, but also to listen to employees, prospects for career development…
- We pay particular attention to ensuring that everyone can develop and give their best to the Projects. When you’re experiencing rapid growth like ours, the challenge is also to ensure that everyone finds their place and adapts despite the change in scale, and without dissolving our DNA; we’re vigilant about this.
This page is obviously an opportunity to tip our hats to the Abraxio “dream team”. Well done, everyone! Thank you for your commitment and all the energy you put into surpassing us! And as we’ll be expanding our ranks significantly this year, don’t hesitate to check out our vacancies or send us your application here.
Happy Birthday Abraxio!
